Nog kändes de lite konstigt att se spellokalen så pass öde som vi fick göra idag. Nor för att det är den fjärde juli, USA:s nationaldag, men vi alla hade nog räknat med bra många fler spelare än de 873 som till slut skulle spela dag 1b. Tillsammans med gårdagens 1116 blev det bannemej färre deltagare än man hade varje enskild dag här för ett par år sedan.

Ja ja, vi ska inte ropa hej eller måla fan på väggen för det är trots allt två startdagar kvar och med största sannolikhet kommer dessa två fylla upp såväl Amazonrummet såsom de andra lokalerna som ligger jämte.

Idag startade bara fem svenskar, eller inte riktigt. Vi trodde först att de var fem men sista timmarna sprang vi på två till vilket innebär att det totalt var sju svenskar startande här idag. Med andra ord var det inga som helst problem för oss svenska reportrar på plats att följa dem lite extra. Speciellt inte med tanke på att vi var fler än dem.

Samer Rahman, Bo Sehlstedt, Mohammad Kowassarie, Erik Backlund, Sven Abelsson, Robert Hallman och Johan Bredberg heter de svenskar som spelade dag 1b här av WSOPs mainevent. Bäst av dessa har Samer gått som började dagen lite svajigt men var nästan aldrig under startstack och efter att ha vunnit en stor nyckelpott tog han ett jättekliv och närmade sig 100k vilket också var de trakter han avslutade dagen på. Två av dessa svenskar klarade sig dessvärre inte vidare till dag två. Sven Abelsson som hade kvalat in via PokerStars och Mohammad Kowassarie är båda ute.


Utan att låta bitter så måste jag säga att dagen här på Rio faktiskt känts lite avslagen och aningen seg. Den största skandalen har inte varit att Phil Hellmuth kört sönder sin bil på parkeringen eller att Dolye ramlat av sin stol och nästan brutit benet. Nej det största som hänt, är väl kanske också det mest absurda jag hört någonsin, var när säte fem på bord 20 tog sina marker, reste sig upp och lämnade turneringen. Ett mycket udda move om jag får säga det själv och man undrar ju vad killen tänkte på egentligen.

Nu ska nationaldagen här i Las Vegas firas med pompa och ståt. Vi har redan avnjutit en drös med fyrverkerier. Det är faktiskt bara skumpan som fattas för att denna dag ska kännas fulländad.
